Good News for Haris Rauf as PCB Takes Big Action
There’s a glimmer of hope for Haris Rauf as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) mulls over reinstating his central contract. The fast bowler faced contract termination just days before the Pakistan Super League due to his refusal to participate in a Test series against Australia, which ultimately resulted in Pakistan’s 0-3 loss.
However, after a thorough review by the PCB’s legal team, there’s speculation that Rauf’s appeal for contract restoration might be granted. A source close to the matter revealed, “There are chances that his appeal will be accepted and the PCB will restore his contract.”
Rauf, who sustained a shoulder injury during a Lahore Qalandars match in the Pakistan Super League, was sidelined from the tournament.
Despite being engaged in the Big Bash League during Pakistan’s series against Australia, he was still named in the squad for the subsequent T20I series against New Zealand.
In addition to terminating his central contract, the PCB also revoked Rauf’s No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for participating in T20 leagues until June. The bowler, through his legal representatives, provided detailed reasons for his decision to opt out of the Australia series.
Meanwhile, tensions have risen between the PCB and Lahore Qalandars’ owner, Sameen Rana, who criticized the board’s treatment of Rauf. Rana expressed discontent, stating, “It is not the way to treat one of the best bowlers of the country.”
He further condemned the board’s decision to disclose Rauf’s contract termination just days before the tournament, labeling it as unprecedented.
As Rauf’s fate hangs in the balance, cricket enthusiasts await the PCB’s final decision on the matter.
